Mr. Short, who came to T.H. Glennon from Valspar Paints, is well versed in manufacturing superior colorants. He has used these skills to enhance T.H. Glennon’s mulch colorants and increase our quality and overall production capacity. When looking at the overall production process as a mulch colorant supplier, Gerry’s first action was to improve and standardize overall operating procedures. With his significant manufacturing experience, he knew exactly what needed to be done to improve our internal processes and increase production while increasing efficiency, quality and improving the delivery cycle.

Expansion of Mulch Colorant Production

Mr. Short has been instrumental in T.H. Glennon’s significant investment in expanding our mulch colorant production capacity. He has also increased our automation capabilities in the production process. In the first 15 months,  the following production and processes improvements include:

  • Installing new dispersion and blending equipment which has increased T.H. Glennon’s blending capacity by 50%
  • New grinding and milling equipment, increasing T.H. Glennon’s milling capacity by 45%
  • Streamlined internal order entry and manufacturing and delivery processes
  • Hired additional truck drivers to improve delivery times
  • Improved finished goods inventory levels and shipments
  • Hired additional manufacturing personnel

At T.H. Glennon, we continue to challenge ourselves to better serve our customers and pushing for quality improvement is no exception. For that reason, Gerry hired Angela Atkinson who holds the position of Quality Control Manager.  Ms. Atkinson comes to T.H. Glennon with twenty-four years’ experience in the field of chemistry. She holds a B.S. degree from Salem State University in Biology and Chemistry and most recently worked for Lubrizol and B.F. Goodrich.
